It was touching to read that a group of Wenatchee teenagers felt sufficient compassion and respect for World War II veterans they may not even know personally, to raise thousands in donations to send them on a well-deserved trip to the nation’s capital. There, as part of the Honor Flight program, they will see the monuments erected in their honor and the honor of their comrades.
In November the Wenatchee FFA began raising money to send local veterans on the honor flight. They raised $4,000, mostly from Wenatchee High School students, more than enough to send Frank Berdan and Judd Warton to Washington, D.C., last week, reports The World’s Rick Steigmeyer. It took just a week to raise the money.
