Raymond Bruce Braley

February 20, 1929 ~ August 23, 2014

Raymond Bruce Braley, 85, of East Wenatchee, WA, died Saturday August 23, 2014, at his home in East Wenatchee, WA. He was born on February 20, 1929, in Harmony, ME to William and Lena Braley. Ray lived most of his life in the Wenatchee area, but missed the beauty of his childhood home in Maine, especially in the fall. He joined the Army in 1949 and served his country proudly during the Korean War. Ray retired from Alcoa after 31 years in 1984. Ray and Jeanette moved to Nevada in 1984, where Ray worked as a Security Guard Supervisor in the Eldorado Casino. Ray and Jeanette moved back to the Wenatchee area in 1989, where he enjoyed his retirement spending time with family and friends. Ray and Jeanette loved to travel (especially with Jeanette’s sister, Versa and her husband, Earl) and had visited 48 of the 50 states in the United States. Ray enjoyed playing Bingo with his wife, visiting casinos across the country, but mostly, spending time with family and friends. He will truly be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Braley; his two brothers, Bill Braley and Dick Braley; his two sisters, May Cobb and Marie Braley; his son, Ken Braley Sr.; his granddaughter, Tara Braley; and his best friend, Robert Hawkes. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeanette Braley: sister, Helen Arries of Maine; brother, John Braley of Connecticut; nine children and spouses, Tom and Vicki Davis of Cashmere, WA, David and Nina Russell of Wenatchee, Kathy Braley of Puyallup, WA, Karen Russell of East Wenatchee, Bruce and Rosa Braley of East Wenatchee, Dan and Gale Russell of Wenatchee, Donna Braley of Spokane, WA, Doug Russell of Wenatchee, Kerry Russell of East Wenatchee, and Kim and Jim Hollmann of East Wenatchee; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held in Ray’s honor on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley. A reception will follow at Noon at the Alcoa Steelworkers Hall at 180 Rock Island Road in East Wenatchee, WA. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
