Short Shakes’ 38th year brings new script, new partnership

For Short Shakespeareans, a local youth theater program, their 38th year is one filled with firsts. Branching out from their normal rotation of Shakespeare plays, Director Kelly Atwood made the decision this year to put on “Much Ado About Nothing.” The comedy, written by Shakespeare in the middle of his career, has never been done before by Short Shakes. It opens tonight at the Riverside Playhouse.

Original Heart members bring back the hits in spin-off band Heart By Heart

On July 21, Wenatchee rock ‘n’ roll fans will have the chance to enjoy what bassist Steve Fossen calls the “good vibes of the music of Heart.” First a founding member of the band Heart, Fossen, 66, is now the founding member of a Heart “spin-off” band, Heart by Heart.

Crowdfunding a classical concert

Methow Valley composer and conductor Tara Kaiyala Weaver hears music in her mind. Her own classical compositions — most of which have never been played out loud — fill her ears. Now she is turning to the internet to help make her dream come true: an orchestral performance of her compositions by professional musicians.
