MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — David Evensen was promoted in the United States Navy to the rank of Lt. Cmdr. on June 1, 2013 in a ceremony at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Fla. A former resident of Wenatchee, Evensen graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1988. In 1989, he joined the U.S. Navy as a Sonar Technician, Submarines. He served 12 years before receiving a commission on June 1, 2003 and becoming an Information Dominance Warfare Officer (Intelligence Officer).
Cooper, a nine-year-old old Golden Retriever, loves summertime because he gets to play in the sprinkler ... all ... day ... long. His owners, Terry Clark and Donna Becker of Wenatchee, say that first thing in the morning Cooper will whine at the back door and stomp his feet until someone turns the sprinkler on for him. It’s hard for him to understand that on rainy days his sprinkler friend can’t come out and play. Donna said it’s a good thing she can distract him with a cookie.
WENATCHEE — The AARP eight-hour Smart Driver course is designed to help drivers 55 and older to boost safety awareness, refresh and improve driving skills, minimize crash risk, increase confidence, prolong mobility and maintain independence.
WENATCHEE — Erin Cass, executive director of Wellness Place, has announced that they are participating in UV Safety Month in an effort to help raise awareness about the risks of sun damage and invites everyone to take action to prevent skin cancer and reduce the risk of UV damage.
WENATCHEE — Menda Folden and her sister Alicia Lindsey, both of Wenatchee, will hold three fundraiser events for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Awareness Walk Sept. 19-21 in Seattle. To be eligible to walk in the event, the sisters must raise a minimum of $2,300 prior to the event. The fundraisers are:
Gerald and Liane Hickman of East Wenatchee will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary during a finger food potluck at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 605 First St. in Wenatchee. The potluck will be followed by a reception from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Church. The family requests no gifts.
Madeleine Warner and Jeffrey Gorges exchanged wedding vows May 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee. The Rev. Dr. Robert Brizee officiated. A reception was held at the Wenatchee Golf & Country Club.

WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee Football Club will host the “Future Champs Football Camp” July 14-17 at the Wenatchee High School football field. Camp is open to students second through eighth grade and starts at 5 p.m. each evening.
