Autism group sponsors local workshop

WENATCHEE — The Washington Autism Alliance & Advocacy will hold a six-hour workshop in Wenatchee that explains special education law and the Individual Education Plan, or IEP, process. The workshop is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 9 at Confluence Health, 1201 S. Miller St.

Kiwanis sponsoring April 6 blood drive

CASHMERE — The Wacoka Kiwanis Club will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 6 at the Cashmere United Methodist Church. 213 S. Division St.

Local church to host Second Harvest distribution

EAST WENATCHEE — Second Harvest will distribute free food to families in need on April 5 from noon to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1050 Eastmont Ave.

Pat Strand inducted into Music Hall of Fame

WENATCHEE — Patricia Strand, a retired Washington Elementary School music teacher, was inducted into the Washington State Music Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place at the Washington State Music Conference held in Yakima in February.

WHS debaters qualify for national tournament

WENATCHEE — Vivian Noyd and Abby Davison have earned a chance to compete at the National Forensics Tournament scheduled for June in Salt Lake City, Utah.

NCW — Three local students recently spent a week working as a page at the Washington State Senate in Olympia. The students were sponsored by Sen. Linda Evans-Parlette, R-Wenatchee.

WENATCHEE — Principal Kevin Loomis, of John Newbery Elementary School, has been nominated for Washington State Regional Distinguished Principal.

FFA members earn state-wide honors

CHELAN — Members of the Chelan High School FFA were awarded honors by the Washington Association of Agriculture Educators after deliberating at their spring executive committee meeting, March 5-6.
