Royal, ranked fifth in the state and one of the more tradition-rich football programs in the state, had just roared back from a 20-0 deficit to take a 25-20 lead on the Goats, a young team that finished the regular season two games below .500.

But after an impressive summer on the course, some things fell into place and UW coach Mary Lou Mulflur was able to offer Bowers a full ride.
WHS football coach mulling over future
WENATCHEE — After one of the most successful football seasons in its history, Wenatchee High School may be looking soon for a new head coach.
Scott Devereaux, who has rebuilt the program into a steady winner since he took over six seasons ago, is contemplating stepping down to spend more time with his family. He plans to make his decision in the next two weeks.
Panthers’ big season ended abruptly
WENATCHEE — For Wenatchee High School football coach Scott Devereaux, his team’s 2009 season could be summed up as five months of good feelings capped by three hours of misery.
From the season’s outset, Devereaux was excited about the Panthers’ chances for success, and was even more encouraged by the leadership and self-coaching he saw from Wenatchee’s senior-laden roster as spring camp opened in June.
