Woman pleads guilty to animal abuse
WATERVILLE — An Everett woman pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree animal cruelty and was sentenced to five days on a Department of Corrections work crew after law enforcement and animal control officials say they found several starving dogs and cats on a remote property near Mansfield last year. The Douglas County Prosecutor’s Office charged Kathleen C. Walls, 49, on Nov. 10 with first- and second-degree animal cruelty. Walls, who declined to comment Monday, was also sentenced to 24 months of probation and $1,300 in fines and fees.

The World unveils new online prep sports features
WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee World has unveiled three new online features: profile pages for prep athletes in North Central Washington, a chat box for fans to banter about prep sports, and a Twitter-based prep scoreboard. Here is a look at all three:
WENATCHEE — The Pateros Nannies have won 15 games this season — but none were harder to come by than this. Pateros clawed back from a seven-point deficit at halftime, and Jamie Bruno hit three free throws down the stretch to lock up a 41-39 victory over Moses Lake Christian Academy in the North Central Washington 1B League district championship game at Wenatchee High School Thursday night.

Pateros’ smothering full-court press limited Mansfield to 12 points in the first half, and five players scored at least five points in its 53-35 win over the Kernels in the first round of the North Central Washington 1B League district playoffs Monday at Wenatchee High School.
