RICHLAND — Wenatchee scored just one goal in its first game of the season, but that was enough to give the Panthers a 1-0 victory over Richland. Marco Martinez scored the goal, on an assist from Chris Feldman, in the fourth minute.

Girls golf season kicks off for WHS, EHS
RICHLAND — Wenatchee’s Jordan Takasugi and Eastmont’s Tia Snyder tied for fourth with matching 88 scores at the girls golf season-opening Hanford Invitational at Horn Rapids on Friday afternoon in Richland. Eastmont finished sixth with a team score of 295, while Wenatchee was tied for eighth with 300.
Collegians: Former WHS star heads off to nationals
GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Whitworth senior shot-putter Jeff Kintner hopes to better his fourth-place finish from a year ago at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at DePauw University. Kintner, a junior at Whitworth who was a three-sport star at Wenatchee High School, will begin the shot-put competition on Saturday.
The World unveils new online prep sports features
WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee World has unveiled three new online features: profile pages for prep athletes in North Central Washington, a chat box for fans to banter about prep sports, and a Twitter-based prep scoreboard. Here is a look at all three:
PASCO — Eastmont took ninth and Wenatchee was 10th at Monday’s season-opening Pasco Invitational boys golf tournament. Southridge won the tournament with a score of 312, one stroke ahead of both Kamiakin and West Valley.
