WENATCHEE — State Attorney General Bob Ferguson Monday tossed a flag-adorned wreath off the Pipeline Pedestrian Bridge Monday with East Wenatchee Mayor Steve Lacy and Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz and watched as the Columbia River’s strong spring current carried it down stream. The local American Legion organized the Memorial Day event, which commemorated soldiers lost at sea.
Now that's a crowd. Propelled into the streets by fair skies and temperatures in the mid-70s, folks swept into the Memorial Park Food Fair and Craft Fair just after Saturday's 11 a.m. Apple Blossom Grand Parade.
Doug Head is grand marshal of the 2013 Stemilt Growers Grand Parade. Doug is retiring in August as regional director for Children’s Home Society, a position he’s filled for 29 years. Apple Blossom Festival leaders announced his selection as grand marshal at the 12th Annual Sweetheart Luncheon for Kids on April 17. He was also honored at the All Service Club Luncheon on Wednesday.

Hungry? Then make your way over to the food fair at Memorial Park, where there are a variety of vendors who will satisfy all of your cravings. The food fair opens Thursday and will continue daily throughout the festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., although some vendors may stay open later. This year’s vendors and their offerings:
WENATCHEE — The Washington State Apple Blossom Festival princess float earned the Community Float Award at Saturday’s Daffodil Parade in Tacoma. Apple Blossom Queen Emily Abbott and princesses Madi Still and Maggie Chvilicek rode on the float.
WENATCHEE — Drop-off times for Art 4 Kidz entries are 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Apple Blossom Festival office. This is the only time artwork will be accepted. Categories include photography, two-dimensional and three-dimensional art for pre-kindergartners through 12th-graders.
WENATCHEE — A second car show is coming to the Wenatchee Valley during this year’s Apple Blossom Festival. The festival has added a car show that will start at 6 p.m. Friday, May 3. Vehicles will be parked along Wenatchee Avenue between First and Fifth streets.

Queen Abby Wilt goes to The River Academy in Wenatchee and is the daughter of Bob and Jackie Wilt. Princess Meztli Gonzalez goes to Rock Island Elementary and is the daughter of Erick and Alejandra Gonzalez. Princess Isabel Hyde goes to Sunnyslope Elementary and is the daughter of Dave and Mary Hyde.
