PHOTO: Randy Smith of Wenatchee, the designer, builder and operator of the 108-foot-tall illuminated cross that shines over the Wenatchee Valley from its new home on Wenatchee Heights, adds fuel and oil then starts a generator used to power the lights on the cross for about seven hours every night. He has plans to run a power line to the cross, eliminating the need for the generator, and add a web camera on the top of the structure.

Thank you Randy! The cross overlooking Wenatchee is a pleasant reminder that our Lord watches over us if we let Him. For the scoffers, look the other way to the darkness...that seems to be more your liking.

Good place to post! Randy, God bless you, and thanks!! We were told it wouldn't be easy. I've heard it said that our ability to match calamity with serenity is directly proportional to the level of our conscious contact with God. Somehow, even though I don't know you, I have a feeling your serenity level is right up there. Rest assured there are thousands in this valley who are delighted and appreciative.

It's now been proven that Jesus was actually killed via guillotine. Can you remodel that sucker?

The Creator put stars in the sky and now there's so much light pollution, and dust/air pollution you can't see them from the Wenatchee Valley half the time!
If you insist on this abomination, at least power it with solar and don't contribute more to air pollution and our dependance on foreign oil!!

"If you insist on this abomination, at least power it with solar and don't contribute more to air pollution and our dependance on foreign oil!!" Abomination??? Really??? You really view this thing with abhorrence and disgust? You find it detestable and loathsome? . I'm speechless...

Hey Esperanza ??? Do you know what all these dams do along the colombia?? Do you you drive?? Get your own house in order before you try working on others!! After reading your statement...my concerns are'nt with light pollution...but with some the citizens in the valley. I will pray for you!

Friends with what has just occured here and what many who knew Mackenzie or even had a small relationship with her (I have my hair done at the beauty school all the time) we all are feeling pain deeply.
So on the subject of the cross, many are so thankful to have Randy Smith giving this for us to see. (I definately am) and if you are not, well just don't look at it, leave it alone, let it go. We aren't asking you to give us something, so please don't ask us to give us something...
