what about pick it up and post notices in the world, nickel etc. in an attempt to find the owner? Give it to the police? whatever! if no one came forward or posted their loss I would donate it to a great charity. The Humane society can always use money for food for the poor pets that have been abandoned.

I would turn it over to the police. If the rightful owner is not located, then I would eventually be given the money. If such were the case I would donate it to one of my preferred charities, like Operation Christmas Child.

I would turn it in. That could be someone's rent money. Definitely not worth the bad karma of keeping it!

I like the idea of posting it in the Nickel or Wenatchee World or even Craigslist ... and then having the person tell me how much was in it.

You turn it in. If wasn't yours before, it's not yours now. Posting would be alright except moey is rather hard to identify.

I have never been able to identify "moey" either. Isn't it some kind of south American fish?

I think I would hang on to it and see if someone came looking for it. If you look at the question differently and ask yourself "What would I do if I LOST an envelope containing $500?" it may help you answer the poll question.

The first place I would go looking would not be the police department. I guess I just don't have that much faith in humanity. I'd first do my very best to retrace my foot steps for the day. I'd ask questions of everyone I may have come in contact with (even family at home) and leave contact info at each place I had been to. I'd post lost and found notices on billboards everywhere I had been and perhaps in the local papers as well, and be sure to offer some sort of reward. Pretty much last on my list would be to contact the police.

So what would I do if I found it? Probably hang on to it and wait for someone to come looking for it. I think I'd leave word in a few places that I had found "some cash" and not be specific about where or in what circumstance. Down the line somewhere if no one came looking for it, I think I'd reimburse myself for any related expenditures and give the majority to a very worthy charity.

First, look around to see if there are people who might lost it. If a bank is nearby, check with them. Not everyone is connected with the internet, computer, etc., (elderly, low-income, disabled) so I would turn it in to the police and place a free Found ad in the newspaper and the Nickle.

What a dumb question.

Why don't they just ask are you honest or dishonest?

"Why don't they just ask are you honest or dishonest?"

Why don't YOU ask You? YOU know if you're honorable or not.

Me? I plead the Fifth...
