  1. WENATCHEE — Treats and well-wishes were in order this month at both the Chelan and Douglas County PUDs, which hosted farewell parties for retiring longtime commissioners Lynn Heminger and Norm Gutzwiler.
  2. WENATCHEE — A unprecedented boom in applications to the Chelan County PUD for large amounts of power for upstart server farms is threatening the business model the utility has depended on to keep rates low for decades and provide additional services, like parks and fiber-optics.
  3. CASHMERE — The Port of Chelan County is nearly finished with a $5 million cleanup project that has rendered its 32.5-acre former lumber mill site free of toxic soils and wood chips and ready to sell.
  4. SEATTLE — Might we suggest a lovely Wenatchee World Salad to go with that grilled Copper River sockeye at Seattle’s Blueacre Seafood?
  5. EAST WENATCHEE — The Douglas County PUD has doubled its budget for relocating or “lethally removing” beavers that are destroying native habitat along the Columbia River above Wells Dam and around the Methow Fish Hatchery.
