Ignoring facts I was taken aback by Tracy Warner’s “Stopping us, one pipeline at a time” (Jan. 20). Surely, this is the Republican stance on the issue, but his thoughts are riddled with inaccurate assumptions.

A high price Bravo to Kay Adam (The Safety Valve, Jan. 13). I would have loved to attend the Mannheim Steamroller concert at Town Toyota Center. Unfortunately, after retirement the stock market took a long-term plunge eating more than 50 percent of my hard-earned retirement. Social Security and a part-time job do not afford the $70 ticket price for my son and his three children. What a remarkable experience that would have been for all of us. A memory that would have lasted us all a lifetime.

Governor misled I’m glad to hear that Gov. Gregoire has been soul searching, but I think her conclusion would have been different had she searched God’s word on the subject of gay marriage.

Safety Valve: Letters from our readers
In support of Coach Valdez I am writing in response to the Dec. 18 article in The Wenatchee World titled, “Wenatchee cross country coach fired.” As a former Wenatchee cross country athlete, I was shocked to learn that the district terminated their cross country coach, Susan Valdez, without any apparent reason. During my four-year tenure on her team and throughout the following years, she has perfectly embodied the characteristics of a coach, mentor and friend. Susan’s professional accomplishments and encouraging attitude make her dismissal questionable.

The legal defense Barring a miracle, through the Public Facilities District the city of Wenatchee is in default and it’s time for the city to deal with that reality. The residents of Wenatchee should expect and deserve an aggressive defense against the city’s detractors, who view this as an opportunity to exploit this tragedy for their own gratification. The city must prepare for an indefinite prolonged period of litigation immediately.
