Coach, our team can beat their team...I watched the GSL playoff, and I watched an earlier game of theirs (on tape) this season. They're good...Halladays good...we're better...period!
Wheeuuw, that was close! Seems to me we might benefit from a little pass offense if we want to advance in the playoffs...just some simple over the middle stuff to keep 'em honest maybe?
However, I come not to bury Caesar, but to praise him...what a great football team we have! Pure smash-mouth, in-your-face football. I love it...and I'd like to sing the praises especially of the (mostly) unsung heroes of this team...the Down Linemen. Most of us know we have one of the best centers on the planet (#74)...but if there is a better tackle in this league than #75, I haven't seen him...unless its our other tackle, #73! (The MARVELS, maybe?MARboe, MARkel, and MARtin?)... and our great guards, #72 and #63, Andy Schock and Dylan Asher...together they make up the best O-line in the league hands down, as I'm sure our two premier running backs, #24 and #12 would wholeheartedly agree.
Kudos too to the coaching staff for the way they have platooned these same great athletes on the defensive line, where their dominating play has neutralized the opposing line, creating space for our superb linebackers and ends to make most of the tackles, and make them near the line of scrimmage in most cases!!
Yep, for my money we have the best D-line in the league too!...and I'm not forgetting about #56, Devin Pirnat, the toughest nose guard anywhere and, according to Markel, "the hardest guy on the team to block". If you haven't guessed by now, I love this team. If I've left any numbers out among the down linemen, it was unintentional and probably a 'senior momen'...I just want the "pitmen" to get their well-deserved due. Bravo boys!!
