Congrats

A number of Panthers were selected to the CBBN Columbia Division All-League teams. For the young men, Conner Smith was one of six named to the first team and he was co-defensive player of the Year. A year ago Smith also was a first team member as well as a member of the all-defensive team. Teammates Jared Jaeger and Andy Arndt were honorable mention. Smith and Arndt are seniors and Jaeger is a junior.

For the girls both Dani Hallberg and Michaela George were voted first team members. Lexxi Hallberg made the second team and Amy Scheumann was honorable mention. This is the third straight season Dani has made the first team. Her freshmen year she was on the second team. Dani and Amy are seniors; Michaela and Lexxi are sophomores. And more honors, George and junior Haylee Douglass were selected to the all-defensive team, the second straight year for Douglass. Ron Stone who guided the team to their first league title since 1976 was named co-coach of the year.

Very likely there never has been a season with as many items added to the girl’s record book as there were in the campaign just competed. The assault on the records is headed with Hall of Fame type scoring performances from Dani Hallberg who completed an incredible 4-year career for WHS. Several of her marks most likely will stand for a long, long time, if not forever.

And then there are Michaela George and Lexxi Hallberg, both only sophomores, who have already had their names entered several times in some all-time Panther scoring and rebounding lists.
