About 10 miles north of Wenatchee on Highway 97, directly across the road from the Estes Fruit Stand, a tiny island glows with autumn color. Most of the year, you don't even notice this brushy rock in the Columbia River, but late fall is its golden heyday.

Again...brilliant contrast. Excellent shot. The river makes for a lot of great photos.

Micheal ... nice to hear from you from down in Mesa, and thanks for browsing through our blogs. Frank, of course, is the real master and tries all kinds of new and interesting stuff. I just kind of wander around with a camera. Thankfully, this is a beautiful area in which to wander.

Great shot Mike. An interesting side note, the original fruit stand that was later purchased by Jimmy and Joan Estes was located where that island is now. Joan Estes told me the fruit stand was moved to higher ground when the water came up behind the Rocky Reach Dam in 1955. The Estes bought it in 1978 and expanded it at its present location.

Beautiful shot. Would like to see a closer one, from a boat, of this little island in its present colors.
