Before the snow

Blog: Culture Check

Before the snow hit this week, back when we had some sunshine, mornings were spectacular as the mists rose off the Columbia River to catch light behind the Sellar and Pipeline bridges.

And the afternoon sun on Wenatchee Heights gave a glow to autumn orchards and distant hills to the north. (Mike Bonnicksen, one of our paper's photographers, shot a similar, beautiful scene a few weeks ago. It inspired me to check out the Heights myself before the autumn colors faded.)

Great shots Mike. the angle of the sun this time of year really lends itself to taking pictures.

Very interesting shot of the bridges also . . . taken from where?

Thanks, guys, for your comments. Always appreciated. The shot of the bridges was taken from a small point of riverbank extending into the Columbia at the base of 15th Street in East Wenatchee. The bank curves quite a bit along the stretch north of the Pipeline Bridge to Porter's Pond (19th Street).
