It's always frustrating when winter inversions pack the valley floor with cottony clouds and leave higher ledges clear and open to deep-blue skies. Doesn't seem fair.
So, along with lots of other folks, I head up Badger Mountain on those overcast days to find sunshine and always-rewarding views.
On Sunday, thick morning clouds overflowed the lower ledges (including Fancher Heights). From the switchback heading up Badger, I could look southwest to see a grain storage bin — just a blip — at cloud's edge. (See photo below.)

As I drove down the road towards Fancher Heights, the storage bin filled my view. (See photo below.)

From the storage bin, I looked west — down a snowy draw and up to the first prominent foothills. (See photo below.)

I scooted down the hill a bit to find the mists had blown into different configurations, filtering light in different ways. (See photo below)

It's interesting how one view leads to another, then another, then ...

I too enjoy this winter weather phenomenom. It's the only way to see the ocean from the nearby hilltops
