Waiting for lightning

Thunderstorms rolled through the Methow Valley last Saturday, producing wind, darkness and a few claps — but minimal drizzle. All show, no go.

As far as I know, this cabin chimney has never been struck by lightning. Its shiny metal is still waiting.

I like this Mike. I've always had an affection for thunderstorms, but the starkness and functionality of the roof and chimney are just "perfectly" complimented by that ominous cloud. Nice work!

Thanks, guys, for your kind comments. I'm a fan of thunderstorms, too, and always look forward to a good visual and aural display.

Everybody sees something different. I like the intelligence of the installation near the peak of the roof where leaks are far less likely to develop. The installer then tucked the top of the flashing beneath the ridge cap to virtually eliminate the possibility of a future leak.
