This sure feels good

Blog: Everyday Business

Oh, go ahead ... pamper yourself. Get the full paraffin tootsie dip, the bamboo massage and the microderm facial. Trust us, this'll do you good.

Tranquility Day Spa, almost one year old, provides all these rejuvenating services and more at its East Wenatchee location. Owner Janice Barnes (in photo) and her crew of seven beauty/massage therapists work at five serene stations (low light, meditative music, scented air) to make you better than when you walked in.

And they do it all organically, with natural ingredients (Dead Sea salts, exfoliating sugar scrubs, seaweed and botanical mud wraps, to name a few) and no harsh chemicals. "We're not trying to shock the body, but sooth and energize it," says Janice. "You don't need any more toxins in your life than your already have."

And when she says "you," she means both women and men. Yep, Wenatchee Valley guys are discovering the rejuvenating wonders of pedicures, facials and full body massages, says Janice. "It only takes one session, and they're hooked." In fact, sports massage — soothing those aching muscles — has become a habit for many of the spa's male customers.

More specialized services include body waxing, acne-fighting facials for teens, couple's massage (husband and wife, mother and daughter, etc.) and full in-spa hair-styling and coloring.

By the way, Tranquility Spa is located right next to its sister business, Savoirfaire Salon, which helps provide styling expertise when larger groups — bridal parties, birthday bashes or fun girls'-day-out pampering sessions — are scheduled at the spa.

"Satisfaction in this business comes from making our customers happy, helping them feel good about themselves," says Janice, who's been in the business for almost two decades. "I can't think of anything more rewarding than helping people feel more alive and beautiful."
