GWATA to chew over 'cloud' basics at luncheon
Blog: Everyday Business
December 30, 2011
Lie back and look up.
That one looks like a jellyfish. That one over there looks like a chimp smoking a stogie. And that one looks like two dogs eager to ... well, my goodness.
But those are old-style clouds. Even though they ARE wireless.
The new cloud — the big honkin’ computing cloud — is a whole different animal that looks like ... hmm. We don’t really know what it looks like.
So give thanks that the topic of the Greater Wenatchee Technology Alliance’s first roundtable discussion in the new year is an explanation of that ephemeral creature known as The Cloud.
Dan Paquette of Key Methods, a Wenatchee company providing IT services and software development, will take a shot at describing this puppy — what it is, how it benefits businesses, a list of risks and trade-offs and how to use it to save money.
The luncheon talk will be held noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Confluence Technology Center, 285 Technology Center Way. Lunch is provided for GWATA members and is $10 for non-members.
Best to reserve a spot by calling 661-9000 or visit gwata.org.
