The Morning Benders make 'Excuses' I can live with
Blog: Give It a Spin
February 11, 2010
It's no secret that I love the Morning Benders. As far as today's music goes, the Berkeley, Calif., indie-pop quartet makes some of the very best. So, it's especially exciting to know they're releasing "Big Echo," their second full-length album of original music, this spring.
The first single from the record, "Promises," has been available for free download for a while at their Web site, and it's nothing short of phenomenal. Now, in further promotion of "Big Echo," the band has released a special video — with performances by John Vanderslice, the Mumlers and more — of the album's opening track, "Excuses."
They first unveiled "Excuses" to the Internets at a Daytrotter session back in 2008. It quickly became one of my favorite songs by the group, and remains so. This video gives a tantalizing taste of what's to come.
