It was closer than expected

I traveled down to Yakima to photograph the Panthers in their last regular season game Friday night expecting the undefeated team to easily beat Davis, who didn't have a league win this year.
The mood seemed a bit light-hearted on the sidelines and Davis took advantage of an uninspired Panther team.
I started out shooting the game about as bad as Wenatchee was playing - always a bit late on the shutter release.
Here, missing the punt block and getting the side/back end of the runback for a touchdown.
And here, just out of position for the longest run of the night.
But I was in the right spot to get the Panther's reaction to a Davis touchdown that the Pirates in the game.
But in the end, I came away with two good images. One a timely one of an interception that led to one of the two Panther touchdowns.
And a nice defensive play that told the story of the Panther defense really keeping them in the game.
But the end of the game ceremony photo really told the story of a victory that the team wasn't too proud of.
I also hung around the locker room while the team walked back and captured this image of the head coach. I just liked the mood that the lighting created and matched with the mood of the win.

Thanks Frank, I was going to mention that the lights are pretty dim in that stadium but very even. Kind of like at Eastmont's but a bit dimmer. I was at ASA 1,600 shutter speed of 1/200 at f/2.8. That stadium used to be the best around but the lighting in all the newer ones is much better. BTW, I'm very sorry to hear about the death of your father. He was the judge I pretty much developed my photojournalism court photography with. He scared me to death at first but he was gentle, understanding, and easy to work with. My prayers go out to you and your family.
