The little things
Blog: Living Images
November 27, 2012
Out of some 100 photographs I made of this subject last week, this is the one I chose to have published. Most of the others had birds in the frame but I especially liked this one because of where the single bird in the sky is located in the frame. Its location gives balance to the overall image and makes the timing of the photograph special. Most times it is the little things that differentiate one picture from another.
The dark clouds in the background make the rainbow pop out.
The image could have been made more dramatic using either in-the-camera saturation or computer saturation but photographs made by news photographers like myself can't ethically be manipulated to show something beyond reality.
