GIVING BACK
Blog: Living Well
February 26, 2011
Twenty-five years ago, Cascade Medical Center hired Bruce Edmond, an experienced paramedic from California, to work for Cascade Ambulance. He and his wife soon became a welcome and important part of the Leavenworth community.
Those were the days when medics ran 24/7 without a break if an emergency arose, responding to Blewett Pass, Lake Wenatchee, Stevens Pass and of course the Leavenworth vicinity. Incidents ranged from multi-injury vehicle accidents, cardiac arrests, anaphylaxis, to snowmobile accidents, mountain climbing incidents and much more!
Bruce and the valley's rescue crews were active day and night, year-round.
At present, Bruce Edmond is having an enforced lay-off from the work he loves. January 7 he was diagnosed with leukemia, and hospitalized for over a month while undergoing chemotherapy treatments. He was recently readmitted for ongoing chemo/medical treatments. Bruce and Kathy have weathered this storm admirably, considering the physical and mental stress they are undergoing.
To honor Bruce and his service to our community, Cascade Ambulance will be holding a spaghetti feed and silent auction March 3, 2011 at the Leavenworth Firehall. The cost of dinner is by donation only; the silent auction will follow. Visconti's Italian Restaurant in Leavenworth is generously providing the spaghetti dinner; gifts for the silent auction are being donated by local merchants, and friends of Bruce and Kathi.
We are local people who support our community. Let's get out there and support a vital part of our area: the paramedics, EMT's and other medical personnel who are so important to us. Bruce, you are such a vital part of this; we can't wait until you're back on your feet and back with the Cascade Ambulance crew. We care!

Sorry we're going to miss being there for this. Bruce is an awesome human; I wish him well.
