I like Bette Midler. Once you get behind the floozy persona she's developed over the years, the lady can sing, and regardless of what one may think of them, her first two lp's really showed how good she was.....although having Barry Manilow as her arranger and piano player didn't hurt. That lady could steam a torch song like nobody's business.

But we're hear to have fun. I was surfing the web when I found this little pagen to Johnny Carson on his next to last show in May of 1992. You may recognise the tune....some girl named Judy Garland sang a version of it as an ode to Clark Gable in "Broadway Melodies of 1938.....

That's some comedian named Robin Williams sittin' next to her, by the way. Of course Bette followed this up with a fabulous duet with Mr. C.....

Definately THE Divine Miss M. Have a great weekend.....

Great ones! I cannot believe it has been 17 years. I like Midler, too. When I get into town to real hispeed, I'll listen to these.

Bette was highly recommended to Ahmet
Ertegun who went to see her perform at a hairdressers convention in NYC. When he arrived he entered an over crowded room in which Bette had 300 hairdresses dancing the Lindy Hop on the tables. Ertegun knew right then and there that he had to sign her.
