Wenatchee Rams Make The Playoffs

Blog: Punk On

Image

I know this is usually a music oriented blog however after not seeing any kind of a write up in the paper or here on line (if there was a write up, where was it?) I thought I'd pass along a little football info.

Last Saturday night at Royal City High School The Wenatchee Rams took on The Yakima Mavericks, both teams at the time tied at 5-2, in the final game of the season. Both teams had to win in order to get into the playoffs..

Off to a slow start The Rams were down 14-0 in the first quarter but by the end of the fourth quarter they had rallied back to win 31-27 in one of the worst officiated games I had ever witnessed. The ref's were from Yakima...."nuff said".

So now the playoff stage is set. The Rams at 6-2 and the number 2 seed will host number 3 seed The South Sound Shockers 5-3. In regular season the Shockers beat The Rams 39-13 in the season opener. The game is scheduled for Saturday June 5th at Eastmont Stadium.

The other playoff game is the number 4 Spokane Wolfpack at the number 1 Hermiston Hurricanes. Should Wenatchee win their game and Spokane win theirs, then the WFL championship game will be hosted by Wenatchee on Saturday June 12th. Go Rams!!

I know The Rams aren't the newest football sensation a.k.a. The Venom, but seeing as how the majority of The Rams players are locals and that this is their 6th season and that they are the 2009 WFL Champions and have now made the playoffs to defend their title, a mention of their efforts would be appreciated.

Go Rams! Way to represent our valley. It goes to show that even though we don't have access to the big schools like Seattle, Spokane, and Hermiston do, hard work, determination and a TEAM 1st attitude can take you wherever you want to go. You'll see me and my family in the stands rooting for you all on June 5th at Eastmont. Again...GO RAMS!

I was wondering when the game was also since I didn't see anything in the paper. I had texted a friend of mine who let me in on the detail. Pretty sad WW for not doing any coverage of any sort for the Rams. And I wouldn't call the "Venom" a sensation....

Unless you are the Wild, the Venom, or a high school athelete you wont get much posted here. What about the Wenatchee Fire youth soccer teams...Wenatchee and E. Wenatchee youth AAU Baseball teams????...Nothing. The kids deserve more.

The game starts at 5 pm at Eastmont. If you decide to go, have fun and be LOUD :) nothing gets the opposing team down like a crowd full of people having a good time. Tickets are usually $7 (very reasonable) and I've never gone home an unsatisfied customer. GO RAMS! Lets bring that trophy to the valley for the 2nd straight year!
