Trip to Spokane

I had to make a trip to Spokane yesterday and rather than take I-90 I took the route through Waterville. The road was empty and I stopped frequently to take pictures.

The geology of Eastern Washington provides many opportunities for pictures. I experimented with some of the landscapes in fact maybe I should call them skyscapes.

I have taken that route to Spokane for many years now. Takes me far away from the madness that is the Interstate and reminds me of what this great state used to be before it was overrun by the outsiders. The starkness and seemingly endless boundaries you have captured here are a great statement. Simply stated? Good Job!

Besides, US 2 takes you throgh (or close enough to explore) Coulee City, Almira, Creston and the like. People don't live on I-90 and towns are names with arrows next to them on green signs.
SR 28 is another altenative. It's no farther, and joins US 2 in Davenport. Another pretty run with Odessa and Harrington thrown in for good measure.

Thanks. I almost went up to Grand Coolee but I had to meet a plane in Spokane. Banks Lake had a small flock of cranes or egrets (white) but there was no safe spot to stop.

Frank, try the upper Grand Coulee in the spring when the waterfalls are running.

Beautiful shots. Love the black-and-white highway (yellow stripes) under the glowering sky. Thanks!
