Hines Wins Western Region Junior Championship Super-G Title

The Mission Ridge Ski Team just returned from the week long Western Region Junior Championships at Bogus Basin just outside of Boise, Idaho. The best 15 to 19 year old racers in the Western US were competing.

MRST qualified 10 out of the 11 their eligible athletes for the championships. Tara Hines, Clare Wise, Kellie DeRuwe, Clayton Conner, Gage Managhan, Josh Sanborn, Shaw Lowry, and Travis Ahmann were MRST's qualifiers. Alec Jones, and Cai Yamamoto also qualified, but were at J2 Nationals.

Athletes qualified for the event with strong performances at a qualifier in January at Schweitzer, Idaho, and a qualifier in February at Mt. Hood, Oregon.

MRST's Tara Hines was 1st and 3rd in the Super-G's, and was crowned Western Region Junior Super-G champion. Clare Wise finished 6th. Tara also won the Giant Slalom. Clare Wise finished 10th.

On the men's side Clayton Conner was 8th, and Gage Managhan was 20th in Slalom 1. Clayton Conner was 16th in Slalom 2, GS 1, and GS 2. ImageImage
