The win capped a strong series for Jones. In which he was also 2nd in the Giant Slalom, and 23rd in the Slalom. Unfortunately weather set in and Jones best event the Downhill was cancelled ending his chances to win the J2 Nationals Overall Title. Even with the cancellation of the Downhill Jones placed 3rd in the Overall earning him 3 medals from the National Championships.
Cai Yamamoto also qualified for J2 Nationals, but had a tough series and did not finish any of the races.
US J2 Nationals brings together the best 15 and 16 year olds from across the Nation for 4 alpine ski races. Athletes were not only racing for National Titles, but a spot on the US Ski Team. Winning 2 golds is an automatic berth on the National Team.
