Speed blogging for wine
Blog: Winemaker's Journal
September 15, 2010
Cascade Valley Wine Country has come up with a great way to get some press from some of the state's most popular wine bloggers. Simple bribery always works wonders.
The local winery association will wine, dine and lodge about a dozen prominent bloggers who will tour 14 wineries in Chelan, Leavenworth and Wenatchee this weekend. Included are the creators of DrinkNectar, Washington Wine Report, WinePeeps, Wine Beer WA, Write for Wine, WineFoot, Wild Walla Walla Wine Women and DecanterBanter.
With the Leavenworth Crush Festival and other wine-centered events going on this weekend, there should be plenty of great wines to write about, and plenty to taste even if you're not a wine writer.
Highlighting the three-day writers' tour will be a speed blogging event at 7 p.m. Saturday at Chateau Faire Le Pont Winery in Wenatchee.
The eight bloggers will get five minutes each with five local winemakers. In that time the bloggers will conduct interviews, sample their wines and post a 300 word or less tweet or mini-blog of their respective impressions.
The lucky five winemakers are Craig Mitrakul of Crayelle Cellars (Craig is also winemaker for Ryan Patrick Vineyards and Saint Laurent Estate Winery), Charlie McKee of Wedge Mountain Winery, Lisa Wareham of Waterville Winery, Danielle Gichemi of Baroness Cellars and Jack Delvo of Bergdorf Cellars.
The tour could bring some great exposure for North Central Washington's nearly 50 wineries and tasting rooms. You can bet these writers will also be noticing local restaurants, lodging and the region's spectacular scenery.
Nice work if you can get it.
