Fall barrel tasting this weekend

Looking for something to do to get out of the house after the turkey extravaganza?
Several local wineries are awaiting your arrival Friday and Saturday. Some are also open Sunday.
Fifteen different wineries between Quincy, Wenatchee, Cashmere and Leavenworth are holding open house and fall barrel tasting Thanksgiving weekend.
Most of the wineries will be offering samples of new wine straight from the barrel along with their new release and library bottle tasting. Appetizers too. Some wineries charge a nominal tasting fee. Each winery will also be serving up a holiday ornament.
Barrel tasting is a great way to get a sneak preview of the wines to come before they're bottled. It's also a tasty way to learn about the winemaking process.
For a complete list of wineries and hours check out the Wenatchee Wine Country website.

Fall barrel tasting this weekend
A timely reminder, Rick; however....... Wenatchee Wine Country consists of a group of local area wineries, but not all local wineries belong to this organization. The referenced web site is a list of wineries belonging to the Wenatchee Wine Country group. While these wineries, with their excellent and varied wines, are certainly worth a visit, let's not forget that other wineries are holding barrel tastings, too.
The Mission District in Cashmere has four tasting rooms in one building; Wedge Mountain Winery in Peshastin, with its new tawny Port, will be open; 37 Cellars in Leavenworth will be open, but do call first (548-8663); Manson and Chelan will be having barrel tastings; this, too, is "local." Be sure to check out other wineries you like, to see if they are taking part. This is always a fun-filled weekend, and a good time to stock up on wine for Christmas and other year-end holidays.
