Colorado fans all know who the quarterback is for this upcoming season, as it was pretty evident immediately after the hiring of Deion Sanders as head coach. It became a tad more evident when Sanders announced his son Shedeur as the quarterback for the Buffs.
Now Shedeur Sanders is an extremely decorated quarterback at the college level thanks to his two seasons at Jackson State, but unfortunately he will not be calling the shots forever. Once he departs for the NFL the program will need to obviously find his heir, and the Buffs are doing their due diligence and looking hard. Not only will they be hosting elite 2024 quarterback Danny O'Neil, who chatted with us over at Locked on Buffs, for a multi-day visit this weekend but they are also set to host 2025 quarterback Stone Saunders.Â
The Bishop McDevitt product and Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year is ranked as a four-star by Rivals, and recently confirmed to 247Sports that he'll be at Colorado on March 20. Aside from Colorado, he also has plans to visit programs such as Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Clemson, and Georgia.Â
This past season Saunders threw for 3,583 yards and 54 touchdowns as a sophomore while being named Gatorade Player of the Year honors, and leading his team to a state championship. He provides the Buffs with another potential replacement for Sanders, who likely will have at least two more seasons in Boulder barring an early departure to the NFL.
