The reimagined XFL may be approaching the halfway point of the regular season but Week 5 represents a critical point for several teams and features a significant matchup.
Things get started on Thursday night when the undefeated Houston Roughnecks head to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Sea Dragons. Houston (4-0) has been the most impressive team in the early going, outscoring opponents by 67 points but the Sea Dragons have won two in a row and it's never easy for a visiting squad to win in Lumen Field.
Saturday's double-dip starts with a battle for first place in the XFL North between D.C. and St. Louis. The Defenders are the other undefeated team in the league and are No. 2 in scoring offense (26.5 ppg) but the Battlehawks (3-1) are just a game behind and eager to even the season series up after losing 34-28 on the road to D.C. in Week 3. In the nightcap, Orlando and Vegas meet in Sin City in a matchup that will result in one of these teams finally getting into the win column.
Week 5 wraps up Sunday night with an XFL South clash between Arlington and San Antonio. With Houston already two games up in the standings and Vegas winless, this game is critical as it relates to the playoff chase. And the Renegades and Brahmas will turn it around and run it back in Week 6 as well.
