WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee Valley College campus fountain will turn into a fishing pond Wednesday for the annual Fountain Fishing Derby, sponsored by the WVC Student Senate.
The derby, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is free for students and is open to WVC employees and members of the public for a $2 pole fee.
The fountain will be filled with hundreds of trout, between 1 and 3 pounds, and some 4-pound lunkers. Whoever catches the biggest fish will win a GoPro camera.
A gutting and cleaning station and ice will be available to keep the fish fresh until the end of the event. Information also will be distributed on sustainability and eating local.
Tacos, drinks and ice cream will be available.
Parking fees apply. Daily parking passes on the Wenatchee campus cost $2.
