NCW — Four Douglas County students have earned entry to the NCW Regional Spelling Bee organized by the Washington Apple Education Foundation.

Fifth-grader Everleigh Lawson and seventh-grader Miguel Rivera from Clovis Point Intermediate School in East Wenatchee and seventh-graders George Murison and Megan Wick from Mansfield School are among 24 students from Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties to earn entry.

Each competitor, ranging from the fourth through eighth grade, placed in the top two of their school spelling bee.

The regional champion represents North Central Washington at the national Scripps Spelling Bee held annually in Washington, D.C. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, both the regional and national bees have been postponed.
