That smoke you saw near Fancher Heights Tuesday evening came from a training fire. Smoke from the fire near Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval could be seen from much of the Wenatchee Valley shortly after 7 p.m. Crews burned around five acres of sagebrush, said Douglas County Fire District 2 Assistant Chief Cam Phillips. The fire was both for training and to reduce fuels in the area, he said. It was expected to last around two hours.
