Honor fallen heroes during local Memorial Day services
Honor those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during the following services planned Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
9 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, East Wenatchee: A flag ceremony and gun salute will be performed at the cemetery.
10 a.m. on the Columbia River Bridge: A wreath will be tossed into the Columbia River to honor U.S. servicemen buried at sea. The ceremony will be attended by the mayors of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee.
11 a.m. at Wenatchee Cemetery and Mausoleum: A flag ceremony and gun salute will be performed at the cemetery.
Noon at Pybus Public Market: A flag ceremony will conclude the day’s services. The program includes a convocation, a short history of Memorial Day, a playing of “Taps” and a concluding benediction. An Honor Guard will conduct a Firing of Three Volleys to honor fallen soldiers. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3618 and American Legion Post 10 will take part in the ceremony.
