Valley Winds to hold its spring concert

The Valley Winds Band's spring concert is April 24 at Chelan High School.

The Valley Winds community concert band will perform its spring concert at Chelan High School on Wednesday. The band, comprised of 45 musicians, will play eight pieces, including diverse music from various cultures and eras. Some highlights include:

Co-director Stephen Burdick holds trumpet performance and master of music degrees. Burdick is in his 13th year of teaching music in Chelan schools. Both he and McBride can be seen playing percussion when not directing.

Now in its third year, Valley Winds is a result of Burdick, McBride and Manson music director Matt Brown bringing local musicians together in 2017, with concerts each April and November. Based in Chelan, players come from as far away as Bridgeport and Wenatchee, and include teachers, professionals and other adults, as well as students and retired persons from ages 14-84.

The performance is free, with refreshments courtesy of Chinook Music, and free use of facilities by Chelan School District. Donations will gladly be accepted for the Valley Winds Youth Music Scholarship.

Larry Glickfeld of Wenatchee sits in the clarinet section of the Valley Winds band.
