Gerald and Liane Hickman of East Wenatchee recently celebrated their 65th anniversary with a trip to Alaska. They revisited the place they lived in Kenai 45 years ago, and visited with family and friends in Anchorage and Kenai.
Liane Edwards married Gerald Hickman July 7, 1954 in Gays, Ill.
The couple has lived in several states before settling in East Wenatchee in 1977.
They are the parents of a son, the late Joseph Hickman, and a daughter-in-law, Marlene Hickman of East Wenatchee; a daughter, Cari Hickman of East Wenatchee; a son and daughter-in-law Dan and Donna Hickman of Snohomish.
They have 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Gerald served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Long Beach Calif., Seattle, Albuquerque, N.M., San Antonio, Texas, Keflavik, Iceland, Kodiak, Alaska, Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Adak, Alaska.
After his retirement from the Navy, the family lived in Kenai, Alaska., for four years, where he worked as an auto mechanic and Liane continued Civil Service.
They moved to East Wenatchee when Liane transferred to the Farmers Home Administration office. The couple owned and operated apple orchards for several years.
Liane continues to operate her florist and iris garden businesses, and does custom artwork.
