Boys basketball: Cascade holds on to upend Chelan; Brewster tested by Omak

LEAVENWORTH — Micah Rieke firmly believes his Cascade boys basketball team is a good squad, even though the Kodiaks’ record would suggest otherwise.

Cascade has been playing better recently — earlier this month, it played well in spurts against Brewster and Cashmere, and beat Quincy. But Rieke felt the Kodiaks needed a signature win against one of the Caribou Trail League’s top teams in order to not only keep them in the race for one of the league’s final playoff berths, but to validate the confidence that he has in his program going forward.
