Thelma Schneider Floener
Thelma Schneider Floener, a 52 year resident of Colville, passed away after a courageous four year battle with cancer on June 27, 2014, in her Colville home, at the age of 74. She was born on September 8, 1939 in Waterville, WA, the daughter of Walter and Vera (Ogle) Schneider. Thelma was raised and attended school in Waterville. She was a 1957 graduate of Waterville High School. Following high school, she moved to Spokane, where she attended Kinman Business College. It was there, that she met her husband to be, Larry Floener, on a blind date. They have been together ever since their wedding on July 15, 1961. Thelma worked for a brokerage firm in Spokane for a time and then moved with her husband to Colville in 1962. In addition to raising four sons, she worked as a retail clerk and bookkeeper at Colville’s T.V. Center, Ramble’s Sport Shop and later at the Sears Catalog Store before retiring. She enjoyed snow-birding in Arizona, visiting on the telephone with her many dear friends and being at home surrounded by her beautiful flowers and loving family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society.
Thelma is survived by her husband, Larry Floener at the home; sons, Joe Floener and wife, Vicky of Colville, WA, Mike Floener and wife, Pam of Colville, WA, Pat Floener and Paula Jo of Colville, WA, Tim Floener and wife, Kerri of Colville, WA; sister, Esther McFarland of Renton, WA; brothers, Ellis Schneider and wife, Lucille of Waterville, WA, Howard Schneider and wife, Joy of Waterville, WA; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Vigil Service was held Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Church. The funeral mass followed on Thursday, July 3, 2014, and cremation followed the mass. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
