WATERVILLE — Five Douglas County employees were recognized Tuesday for putting out a fire and helping to save a driver who was pinned inside his semitrailer in mid-May.

Douglas County commissioners gave a certificate of appreciation to Jason Moore, Clint Wall, Robert Mires, Bob Johnson and John Pease.

They work for the county’s transportation and land services road crew, and responded to a crash on McNeil Canyon Road on May 20.
