Lionel Gaylord ‘Gayl’ Sandberg

Lionel Gaylord “Gayl” Sandberg, 87, of Jacksonville, Ala., died Monday, May 12, 2014.

He formerly resided in Sunnyside, Walla Walla, Odessa, Chelan, Harrington and Omak.

He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also worked for the Okanogan National Forest to help prepare it for the opening of the North Cascades Highway. He designed Washington Pass Overlook and Klipchuck Campground.

Survivors include his children, Sandi Buzzard of Omak, Jon Sandberg of Kansas and Rob Sandberg of Kennewick; and his stepson, Allen Wright of Alabama.

No services will be held.

Arrangements were by K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Jacksonville, Ala.
