NCW — Campfires, smoking and other activities are now prohibited on certain state lands in Eastern Washington.
The ban applies to state Department of Fish and Wildlife lands and started Monday due to increasing hot and dry temperatures, according to a state Department of Fish and Wildlife news release. Welding, chainsaws and off-road vehicles are also not allowed.
The discharge of firearms for legal hunting will still be allowed.
The restrictions will remain in effect until the risk of wildfire decreases. People can check restrictions on the department’s website at wdfw.wa.gov.
