CHELAN — Two vehicles were destroyed by fire Monday about four miles east of Chelan.

Fire crews were called about 5 p.m. to a property on Mountain Spring Road in McNeil Canyon after a caller reported hearing explosions and seeing smoke, according to a Facebook post from Douglas County Fire District 4.

When crews arrived, two vehicles, building materials and personal property were burning and spread into adjacent grass, the release said.

Crews stopped the spread of the grass fire and protected two nearby mobile homes and undamaged vehicles. One person was treated for injuries at the scene.

Chief Tyler Caille with Douglas County Fire District 5 said the fire was likely caused by a malfunctioning pickup with a connected trailer.

The pickup, along with a four-door sedan, were destroyed.

Douglas County fire districts 5 and 4, Chelan Fire & Rescue and Mansfield Ambulance responded to the fire.
