Community clubs and nonprofits work to provide various waste opportunities

Wenatchee Valley Rotary clubs, Waste Management, Winton Mfg. Compost Works, Waste Loop, Sustainable NCW and Young Life volunteers are helping collect compost, recycling and garbage.

Zero Waste stations were placed on Youth Day, along with volunteers guiding visitors to the nearest station to discard of their compost or to recycle.

Some food vendors like Cakes for College, Cuc Tran, Garlini’s and Inna’s Cuisine also had compostable packaging and service ware.

Another place that will help reduce waste is the beer garden, until May 7. The beer garden is using compostable cups; empty wine bottles will be repurposed and plastic bottles, along with aluminum are going to be recycled by Waste Management.
