Cashmere — Three dozen minors will be cited for underage drinking after a barn party was broken up late Tuesday night outside Cashmere.

Chelan County sheriff’s deputies were called to a barn on the 100 block of Elk View Lane after a resident made a noise complaint, said Chief of Patrol Rick Johnson.

There were 44 people in the barn under 21 years old, 36 of whom will receive MIPs, Johnson said. Most in attendance were Cashmere High School seniors.

Reports from the incident weren’t completed when Johnson spoke to The World Wednesday, and he wasn’t sure what happened with alcohol at the scene or if parents were called.

The bust wasn’t part of a party patrol effort by law enforcement to stop teens from driving drunk or tired after graduation parties. However, patrols related to the “Everybody Walks” campaign will continue.

A party patrol broke up a party of underage drinkers early Saturday morning in the Burch Mountain area.
