BLEWETT PASS — Drivers across Blewett Pass should expect delays this week for road work.

The state Department of Transportation will shift traffic into detour lanes near Swauk Campground and reduce the speed limit in that section to 50 mph, according to a Department of Transportation news release. The slowdown will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday, and drivers should expect delays of up to 20 minutes with a flagger to control traffic.

The construction is part of a $4.5 million project to replace an old culvert with a bridge, according to the DOT website. The culvert presented a fish passage barrier. The bridge work is scheduled to be completed in October.
