WENATCHEE — A dog is in critical condition after it was shot three times and left alongside a road Wednesday outside Wenatchee.

A passerby found the male American pit bull terrier mix around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Beehive Road and Mission Ridge Road, according to a news release Thursday morning from the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society.

The dog was shot in the head, neck and shoulder, the release said.

The dog is currently being treated by a Humane Society veterinarian at Countryside Veterinary Clinic in Wenatchee, but it’s not clear if the dog will survive.

Authorities aren’t sure who owns the dog because he wasn’t wearing a collar and isn’t microchipped, the release said.

The dog is silver and white, neutered and has a previous abdominal scar, which leads authorities to believe he has an owner, the release said.
