WENATCHEE — Police say a thief smashed a large window into Trek Bicycle Wenatchee and then escaped on a stolen display bike early this morning.

An alarm inside the shop notifying police went off at about 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, said Sgt. Nathan Hahn with the Wenatchee Police Department. One person living above the bike shop reported the thief to be wearing a blue shirt heading north on the bike.

The shop is looking at roughly $2,500 in repair costs and a loss of $2,700 from the stolen Trek Farley fat bike.

Police are looking to see if any security cameras caught the break-in and are asking anyone with more information to call Wenatchee Police Detective Caleb Aumell at (509) 888-4255.
